Jurisdictional Preparedness Support (JPS)

The JPS Team links state-level resources and local jurisdictions, supporting public health regions and local health departments.  The JPS Team aims to provide guidance and technical assistance in addressing topics relating to the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program. As subject matter experts, the JPS Team helps develop comprehensive strategies to enhance preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.  By connecting local health departments, public health regions, and central offices, the JPS Team ensures that communities can access the information, tools, and support they need to protect their communities in a disaster.  Their role strengthens overall public health resilience and preparedness, ultimately contributing to the safety of the populations we serve.

Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)

The JPS Team is the state contact for the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Program. The SNS is a federally owned and managed repository of supplies, medicines, and devices for lifesaving care during large-scale public health emergencies. The SNS includes pre-established contracts with the private sector that provide access to difficult-to-acquire or maintain supplies. The JPS team works with our regional counterparts to ensure that requests for these supplies are processed and overseen efficiently.

The JPS Team is the state contact for the CHEMPACK Program. The program consists of containers of nerve agent antidotes forward-placed in secure locations, such as hospitals or fire stations, across the country, to respond to chemical incidents, such as nerve agent attacks. The federal government owns and resupplies the containers. The JPS Team maintains the program by working with the Public Health Regional Offices throughout Texas.
