Pet Overpopulation

Responsible pet owners get their pets spayed and neutered.

Overpopulation in dogs and cats in particular poses a serious problem. The sad truth is that about 15 million animals are euthanized every year in animal shelters throughout the United States. Unfortunately, there are just not enough homes to go around.

Spaying female dogs helps to avoid potential infections. If done early, it also reduces the chances of the animal developing mammary cancer. Castrating males reduces fighting and injuries, roaming, prostate cancer. In cats, castration also reduces the art of marking territory through spraying.
