Physician Reporting

Recent shifts in cancer diagnosis and treatment away from hospitals towards ambulatory healthcare settings are increasing the importance of ambulatory (non-hospital) health care providers’ data for cancer surveillance. Physicians reporting to the Texas Cancer Registry (TCR) will help address current under-reporting of certain types of treatment (e.g., radiation therapy) and cancers that are primarily seen in an outpatient setting (e.g., hematopoietic, early-stage melanoma, prostate, colorectal, and breast cancers). Additionally, cancer reporting on each patient diagnosed and/or treated for cancer in Texas is required by state law and rules.

Please Note: physician reporting is not intended to replace traditional cancer reporting from hospitals and other facilities; it is meant to supplement existing reporting sources.
