General Sanitation Program - Public Health Region 11

Purpose

The purpose of the General Sanitation Program is to protect the physical and environmental health of the citizens of Texas. We strive to provide safe food, consumer products, and workplaces, abate any health nuisances, and promote public health measures to prevent any media of disease transmission to or between humans in counties or cities without a local health department. Through our environmental health programs, we educate and inform the regulated community and the general public by licensing, performing inspections, responding to complaints, and, when necessary, through regulatory enforcement.
