Test Description | Testing of suspected influenza specimens to detect the presence of influenza A and Influenza B in symptomatic patients. All positive Influenza A specimens are further tested for seasonal A/H3 and 2009 A/H1N1 and all positive Influenza B specimens are further tested for B/Victoria and B/Yamagata lineages. |
Pre-Approval Needed | Please contact the Emerging and Acute Infectious Disease Unit at 512-776-7676 if novel influenza such as A/H7N9, H5N1, and H3N2v is suspected or if there has been prior travel to countries where novel influenza is considered endemic. |
