Storage/Preservation Prior to Shipping
  • Specimens should be frozen at -15°C or colder on the day of receipt unless they will be tested the following day. 
  • Specimens may be stored at 2°C to 8°C when testing will occur within two days. 
  • Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

Specimen Labeling At least 2 patient specific identifiers: First and last name as one identifier and a DOB or a unique patient specific identifier (e.g. Medical Record number); must match information on submission form (G-2A).
Shipping and Specimen Handling Requirements
  • Two patient-specific identifiers required (e.g., patient full name, date of birth, Medical record number)
  • Identifiers on specimen must exactly match submission form.

Additional Information This test does not differentiate between early IgM and late IgG antibody response.  Acute and/or convalescent sera must be heat inactivated for 30 minutes at 56 +/- 2°C before testing.
