SB 25 – Labeling of Food Containing Artificial Color, Additives, and Certain Banned Chemicals
The 89th Legislature passed Senate Bill 25, which amends Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 431 relating to warning label requirements for food. The legislation is effective September 1, 2025, and applies to food product labels developed or copyrighted on or after January 1, 2027. DSHS has started the rulemaking process, and the proposed rules are now available in the Texas Register (Volume 50, Number 39) for review and public comment.
