Birth Defects Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch
The Birth Defects Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch (BDESB) includes the Texas Birth Defects Registry (TBDR) and the Texas Center for Birth Defects Research and Prevention. We conduct cluster investigations, respond to inquiries from the public, and perform selected education and outreach activities with affected families. We collaborate with researchers to find causes of birth defects and work towards prevention.
Our mission is "To identify and describe the patterns and outcomes of children with birth defects in Texas and to collaborate with others in research, prevention, and family outreach services."
