All vaccine preventable disease (VPD) data captured in the dashboard represent cases that were approved in the Texas National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) as of 10/2/19. Any case pending data entry or approval is not included. Please note that data for 2017 is final and complete. *Data for 2018 and 2019 are provisional as of 10/2/19. Questions can be directed to the EAIDB VPD Team via  VPDTexas@dshs.texas.gov.     
  1. VPD Cases in Texas, 2017-2019* 
    • This table illustrates a comparison of two previous years, 2017 and 2018, to the current year-to-date of January-September 2019*. The orange color palette darkens with emphasis as cases increase.
  2. VPD Cases by DSHS Health Service Region, January-September 2019* 
    • This table illustrates the number of cases for current year-to-date 2019* by VPD condition and DSHS health service region (HSR). The teal color palette darkens with emphasis as cases increase.

    • This graph illustrates a comparison of cases by VPD condition from 2017 to current year-to-date of January-September 2019*. VPDs are listed in descending order by total case counts.

    • This line graph illustrates cases by VPD condition since September 2018 to current year-to-date.
  5. Incidence Rates by Maps for Select Vaccine Preventable Diseases in Texas, 2015-2017 
    • The first row illustrates pertussis disease incidence per 100,000 population by county level in Texas from 2015 to 2017. 
    • The second row illustrates mumps disease incidence per 100,000 population by county level in Texas from 2015 to 2017.

Note: Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM) is included among VPD surveillance counts to provide updates on AFM activity. Currently AFM is monitored by the DSHS VPD team. The exact cause of AFM is still yet to be determined. For more info on AFM, please go to https://www.dshs.texas.gov/IDCU/disease/AFM/Acute-Flaccid-Myelitis.aspx
