What disciplines may obtain CE credit/contact hours through Grand Rounds?

Continuing education credits/contact hours for this event are provided by The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service and may include the following. Please see individual event information for actual continuing education hours.
Some courses may be designated for credit in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility. Please see individual course information.

  • Continuing Medical Education:
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

  • Continuing Nursing Education: 
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has awarded 1.5 contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education.

  • Certified Health Education Specialists:
    Sponsored by The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service, a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.5 total Category I contact education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level continuing education contact hours available are 1.5.

  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors:
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is an approved provider (TCBAP# 0090-87E) with the Texas Certification Board for Addiction  Professionals to offer continuing education contact hours to Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors. The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service, per approval of Division for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, has awarded 1.5 contact hours for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors and, for some courses, may award 1.5 contact hours in professional ethics for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors.

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists:
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is an approved provider (#573) by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists to offer continuing education contact hours to Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has awarded 1.5 contact hours for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and, for some courses, may award 1.5 contact hours in professional ethics for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists.

  • Licensed Professional Counselors:
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is an approved provider (#690) by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors to offer continuing education contact hours to Licensed Professional Counselors. The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has awarded 1.5 contact hours for Licensed Professional Counselors and, for some courses, may award 1.5 contact hours in professional ethics for Licensed Professional Counselors.

  • Licensed Psychologists:
    The Texas Department of State Health Services is authorized by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a (c)(2)(A) provider of professional development hours for licensed psychologists. Per the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists Act and Rules, at least half (10) of the required 20 hours of professional development must be obtained by a provider listed in section (c)(2)(A). The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has awarded 1.5 contact hours for Licensed Psychologists.

  • Registered Dietitians:

    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has received prior approval by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for this event. Learners will receive 1.5 Continuing Professional Education units (CPEs) for completion of the activities/materials. This activity is designated as Levels 1, 2, and 3 learning.

  • Registered Sanitarians: 
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is considered a sponsor of continuing education for Registered Sanitarians according to the Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 140, Subchapter C, Rule §140.113. The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has awarded 1.5 contact hours of Continuing Education.

  • Social Workers:
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service under sponsor number CS3065 has been approved by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (https://dshs.texas.gov/socialwork) to offer continuing education contact hours to social workers. The approved status of The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service expires annually on December 31. The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has awarded 1.5 contact hours of Continuing Social Work Education.

  • Certificate of Attendance:
    The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has designated 1.5 hours of attendance.

    What procedures do I need to follow to obtain CE credits/contact hours?

    Course Evaluations

    Once attendance verification has occurred, the attendee will receive an email with a link to the evaluation. Please note: evaluations are required to be completed in order to receive CE credits/contact hours.

    Certificate of Attendance

    After completing the course evaluation, the attendee will be mailed a Certificate of Attendance, which will include the types of credits/contact hours available for the presentation.
